My grandma Rose made these butter cookies all the time and could always be found in her cookie jar. When she passed away in 1987 I inherited her old fashioned cookie press. I have been making them ever since. My kids love them as much I do and are always the most requested cookie in our house.
I keep pressed, frozen cookies in the freezer at all times. For a special after school snack I will bake off a batch and once cooled, put in a cookie jar. I put two cookies in a secret hiding place, just for me, becasue I know they once discovered, they will disappear and won’t last through the night.

These look wonderful and your post takes me back to childhood. My Mom had a cookie press and we would bake cookies like this at Christmas. Thanks for the memories and the lovely recipe!
Hi Nancy, My kids beg for these year round. I keep frozen, pressed dough in the freezer for those after dinner cravings. Thanks for sharing your memory!
