Celebrating the Holidays-Around the Web

D.L. Rhein Table Setting Ideas

I get a lot of inspiration from fellow food bloggers, on-line cooking magazines, chefs, and writers. I like to take what I find and adapt it to my personal tastes as well as that of my family.

We celebrate and entertain a lot in the month of December. Sharing meals with friends at their home or ours can be a bi-weekly activity and everyone pitching in to create the perfect meal is what makes it so festive. I have a few go-to traditional recipes that I like to make this time of year and I am always intrigued and fascinated to see how others bring in the holidays.

The first night of Hannukah this year is always celebrated with my mom, my brother, and my sister-in-law. This year I am making my mom’s favorite meal(was my dad’s favorite as well) and instead of the traditional brisket and potato latkas(making those Friday night for the huge cousins par-tey), it is going to be lamb chops, pommes dauphinois, kale chips, brussel sprout salad, and nutella doughnuts.

Everybody celebrates in their own way and I love being a voyeur, watching how my friends near and far do it up for their families.

Happy Celebrating!

I love the hot cocoa on a stick! We didn’t get any snow here in my part of Ontario (my first ever green Christmas) but I’m sure it will come and when it does I’ll be making that cocoa!

I also made Heidi’s gingerbread – it was delicious!

Hi Calantha! No snow, that’s a crying shame. It seems to be very cold all over the universe, but the snow has yet to arrive. Regardless of snow, this is a good treat on almost any winter evening!
