I am not a big drinker. It’s rare that I finish a glass a wine at dinner and I rarely order a “cocktail”. With that said, when I do invite friends over for dinner, I like to have a little cocktail on hand for those that simply want one.
Seeing a lot of fruit infused vodka on Pinterest sparked my interest to create a red, white, and blue cocktail for the 4th of July. Seeping the blueberries in the vodka for 36 hours, creates the most amazing scent. For lack of a better word, the smell was intoxicating.
When I do indulge in a cocktail (I much prefer to eat my calories), it’s generally something slushy, fruity, and not overly alcoholic. Grabbing the last of the Meyer lemons from my tree, I made a huge batch of Molly’s raw honey lemonade. Making something slushy was what I was craving. Tossing the lemonade and some ice in the blender, this frozen lemonade and blueberry cocktail was created.
I wanted to use the blueberries as garnish, but didn’t want them simply floating in the glass. Grabbing a handful of small wooden sticks, I skewered them and then put them in the freezer for about an hour. After the fact, I thought how yummy these would have been if I would have sugar coated them like I did these cranberries…there is always next time!
With the leftover blueberries, I made ice cubes. More drinks to come!
I make a lot of homemade “sodas”. There is always something fresh in the fridge, like this, this, and this. When the kids see these bottles filled with colored liquid (they add their own bubbly water), they help themselves. Didn’t want them grabbing this by mistake. Needed to cover my basis – marking the bottle was a must.
Freezing fresh, organic, summer berries and fruit from the farmers market is my newest obsession. I see many more fruit and vodka combos in my future (and yours)!
Blueberry Infused Vodka + Frozen Lemonade Cocktail
Ingredients
for the flavored vodka:
14 ounces Vodka (I used Kettle One)
1 cup fresh, organic blueberries
for the cocktail:
2 tablespoons flavored vodka
2 tablespoons bubbly water
12 ounces Molly’s Raw Honey Lemonade
Instructions
for the vodka:
• wash and dry the blueberries.
• put blueberries in a 1 quart Ball jar.
• fill jar with Vodka.
• tightly place lid and let rest for 24 – 36 hours
• strain vodka into another vessel. save blueberries and freeze
• pour 2 cups of lemonade in a blender.
• add 2 cups of ice and blend. I may have used more ice as I like my drinks very, very slushy. it’s one of those things that one needs to eyeball.
• in an 8 ounce glass, add the flavored vodka and the bubbly water (this is my new favorite). mix together.
• add frozen lemonade to the glass and mix. garnish with frozen blueberries and a straw.
• Cheers!!

[…] Photo Everything tastes better on a stick: corn dogs, popsicles, and kabobs of all varieties. So that must mean alcohol tastes better on a stick too, right? Yes, it’s a tad hard to put a liquid on a stick, but there are ways to get a little creative. One fun thing we saw was the blueberry infused vodka + frozen lemonade cocktail. The blueberries are meant to be a garnish, but instead of just having them float around in the drink, she put them on a stick. And instead of just skewering boring normal blueberries, she let these babies soak in a jar of vodka for 36 hours, put them on the stick and then let them hang out in the freezer for a little bit. The frozen lemonade recipe looks awesome too, but we are extra excited about boozy blueberries. This one bends the rules a little bit – the booze is not actually on the stick, but the stick plays an integral role in the drink’s success. Confused yet? We can see this recipe for liqueur lollipops being a hit at your New Years Eve party this year. You make homemade lollipops out of sugar, corn syrup, water, flavor extracts and food coloring. When it’s time to drink, you swirl one of these gems into your glass of champagne. After a bit, they will dissolve and infuse your drink with flavor. Pretty cool, right? Of course, you can always go with the ever-popular booze popsicle. This is where you can really let your artistic side shine because half the fun is throwing a bunch of liquor, juice and fruit into a popsicle mold and seeing what happens. Let us know if you come up with any other creative ways to have booze on a stick. Cheers. Share Tweet Share Posted by DIA […]

Thanks for the mention! This drink looks super fun! I’ve wondered about using blueberries to infuse vodka – now I really want to try it! I agree – I usually much prefer to eat my calories than drink them, but sometimes the perfect cocktail makes the party perfect. . . . Looks lovely!
Thanks, Sara! Your drink looked just as quench thirsting and it’s on my must try list!
“quench thirsting”? Ma’am…I’d say you’ve had enough already.
What a pretty drink as well.. I love the idea of soaking the blueberries then freezing.. this is a great one for hot summer barbecues!! xo
I am sure this would be just as yummy with raspberries. Repurposing 1 basket of blueberries creates endless possibilities – this could be my new mission!! Have a wonderful day, Barb!!
This cocktail looks so refreshing! Yum.
I love the sign ‘Vodka-Don’t Drink’ reminded me of Alice in Wonderland – mine would read Drink Me !!! Love infusing spirits – my fave is Tanqueray No 10 with raspberries. Are those ice cubes alcoholic too? like vodka jellies…
The blueberries in the ice cube are “spiked”, thus will make a great garnish for my next creation!
Susan I just pinned like every photo in this post ~ a stunning job with this recipe and photos my friend!
thanks so much, Marla! Have a wonderful weekend! x
This really is a great cocktail. I’m sure it’s good and it’s looks good as well!
Oh my gosh I love every part of this! I think a stash of frozen vodka infused blueberries should be a staple in everyone’s fridge now!
These are beautiful! I love the presentation and beautiful compilation of ingredients. Thanks!
yes, yes and yes!! these look incredible!
Looks amazing! Any thoughts on serving it in a pitcher and how I would modify the recipe to do this? Also, can it be made with regular lemonade versus frozen lemonade? Thank you!
Hi Audrey! Yes, I would certainly make this with regular lemonade and then just serve this drink on the rocks. This way you can put in a pitcher and your guests can add their own ice cubes to their glasses! Cheers!
this looks amazing! Could I use thawed frozen blueberries or do they need to be fresh?
Hi Jenny! Yes, of course you can. I use frozen berries for so many of my recipes. They are a life saver! Thanks for stopping by and please let me know how the cocktails turn out!
Thanks for a great recipe!!
One question: does the jar with tightly placed lid rest for 24 – 36 hours in the fridge or room temp?
I put it in the fridge. But you could easily place in a cool, dark cupboard. Glad you enjoyed!
hi, do you have a twitter? your link is broken 🙁
thank you! I will check it out right now.
I would like to make these for a party to serve in Mason Jars. Is it possible to make them 2-3 days in advance?
Thank you.
Hi Karin! Thanks for stopping by. What I did was made the vodka well in advance and then bottled it and stored it in the fridge. I also made the lemonade a day in advance. The day of your event you can throw the lemonade and the ice in a blender and make your frozen lemonade. Add the vodka to everyone’s taste. I hope this helps! Have fun!
thanks for sharing one of my all time favorite cocktails!!
